Thanks to my fellow Intaki for bringing up this crucial question once more. Those who speak against this injustice are largely uneducated and unaware of the true gravity of the situation. A closer inspection of history would be helpful for them.
This is a link to an old thread with much of the information.

I believe that persons within the separatist movement have indeed been in contact with the GU, to discuss the future of our race. I too have been surprised to see them list that as one of their objectives.
I will remain skeptical and in anticipation of results.

Every heard of the expression 'The Zydrine's always greener on the other side of the asteroid belt'? If your plans were ever to succeeded it would be a dark, dark day for our people. You complain now of the little protection there is around our homeworld, but imagine what it would degenerate into if we were to become a separatist state. Every pirate group in the sector would take advantage of the situation and move in. Not to mention what it would do to our economy. Trade would diminish (legal trade that is) and as half of our people are employed by companies that are Gallante, they would be left without income. Can you find work for half a planet before they start to starve?
I am Intaki and have never felt in the slightest bit oppressed, nor have my family or friends. In fact many of us... The majority of us, are happy being part of the Federation, and would be prepared to fight any who would take it away.
Gah, my patience with the Federal clowns wears thin ..
The Caldari have not only prospered with independence, but have become a galactic power. Their beginnings were as precarious as an independent Intaki state's would. In fact, the situation would be easier for us since we could rely on the aid of the Caldari and even our exiled kin within the Syndicate (perhaps finally healing the rift that has stained our people for so long).
As for some 'Intaki' not feeling oppressed, this is a certainty, but the fact is that these people do not know what it is to be Intaki and have lost contact with our people's spiritual soul. They now fully live in a Federation where happiness is bought in the form of a transcranial microprocessor instead of created for yourself.

So to the Caldari instigators and the Intaki people, I do not believe that much resistance would be met by The Federation regarding the departing of The Syndicate. There is a special department within the GU devoted solely for this cause.
The Syndicate is already independent, having been exiled by the Gallente in the past.
It is the independence of the Intaki homeworld and our most prominent colonies that we seek.
